This letter is to bring to your attention an increase in the number of sheep worrying reports received in the Ayrshire area. As lambing time approaches, Police Scotland has taken the decision to contact your community to highlight the seriousness of this crime and the penalties it incurs.

There are board games and jigsaws, a knit and natter group, a colouring book station and as colouring books are increasingly found to be a good source of therapy and relaxation- adults are catered for here too!

Tea and coffee is 50p a cup.
You can make use of the computers within the library, or you can take your own laptop and share the FREE wi-fi.

South Ayrshire Council with its partners in the public and voluntary sectors, wants to survey attitudes and views on public services and policy issues.

Citizens’ Panels are a way for local people to provide feedback on a range of issues and influence decision makers. The South Ayrshire Citizens’ Panel is called “South Ayrshire 1000” as it is the intention to have 1,000 members on the Panel. We have managed to recruit around 850 people who live in South Ayrshire who volunteered to http://www.south-ayrshire.gov.uk/sa1000

PHASE B OF ESSENTIAL RESURFACING ON THE A78 AT MONKTONHEAD ROUNDABOUT COMMENCES THURSDAY 8TH JANUARY 2026
Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential resurfacing on the A78 at Monktonhead Roundabout under two phases. Phase A completed in mid-December 2025. Phase B commences early January 2026 and details are as follows:
Phase B
A single overnight closure of the A78 southbound carriageway will be in operation from 8pm on Thursday 8th January until 6am on Friday 9th January. Traffic will be diverted via Warrix Interchange to Corsehill Mount Roundabout and then directed to follow the A71, Moorfield Roundabout, the B7038, Ayr Road and Dutchhouse Roundabout to follow the permanent signage. Expected delays up to 11 minutes. 
A closure of the A78 southbound on slip from Loans will also be in operation at this time. Traffic will be directed to follow the B746, Fullerton Place, and take the A78 northbound on slip towards Warrix Interchange and follow the diversion route to join the A77 or the A79. Expected delays up to 23 minutes. 
This phase of work will also require a full weekend closure of the A78 southbound between Warrix Interchange and Monktonhead Roundabout from 8pm on Friday 9th January until 6am on Monday 12th January. During this full weekend closure, traffic will be diverted via the A78 southbound off slip at Warrix Interchange and directed to follow Corsehill Mount Roundabout, the A71, Moorfield Roundabout, the B7038, Ayr Road, Spittalhill and the A77 southbound at Dutchhouse Roundabout to follow permanent signage. Expected delays up to 18 minutes. 
Traffic wishing to access Prestwick Airport will be directed to continue on the A77 southbound to Whitlett’s Roundabout and follow Heathfield Road, Ayr Road, Main Street, Monkton Road, Shawhill Roundabout and the A79 to follow permanent signage. Expected additional travel time will be up to 41 minutes. 
Traffic wishing to continue to Troon from Warrix Interchange will be directed to follow the main diversion route to Moorfield Road and then follow the B7064 and the A759 before following permanent signage. 
A closure of the A78 southbound on slip from Loans will also be in operation at this time. Traffic will be directed to follow the B746, Fullerton Place, and take the A78 northbound on slip towards Warrix Interchange and follow the diversion route to join the A77 or the A79. Expected delays up to 23 minutes. 
A total closure of the carriageway between Kerrix Road and Hobsland Farm Junction will also be in operation at this time. Traffic will be directed to follow Monktonhead Roundabout, Kerrix Road eastbound, Main Street and Symington Road. Expected delays of up to 12 minutes. 
Overnight closure of the A79 eastbound and A78 northbound carriageways will also be in operation from Sunday 11th January and Monday 12th January, 8pm – 6am each night. Traffic will be diverted via A79 westbound, Shawhill Farm roundabout, A79 Monton Rd and Ayr Road, B743 Heathfield Road, Whitlett’s Roundabout, A77 northbound to Dutch House Roundabout, Bellfield Roundabout, A71 Hurlford Road, Moorfield Roundabout, A71 and Corsehill Mount Roundabout to re-join the A78 at Warrix Interchange. Expected delays up to 30 minutes. 
Mon 12th Jan 2026 6am – 8pm - Daytime dedicated lane closure will be in placed from the A79 and A78 northbound.  
Overnight closure of the A78 northbound carriageway from Monktonhead roundabout to Loans from Sunday 11th January to Wednesday 14th January, 8pm – 6am each night. Traffic will be diverted via Dutchhouse Roundabout and directed to follow the A77 northbound, Bellfield Roundabout, A71 Hurlford Road, Moorfield Roundabout, A71 and Corsehill Mount Roundabout to re-join the A78 at Warrix Interchange. During this closure, a single lane closure on the A79 will also be in place. Expected delays up to 30 minutes. 
Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works. 
Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable. 
This scheme will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by improving the safety and condition of the carriageway in this location.
